£800 5* Umrah?

Alhamdulillah, recently in February 2022, I performed Umrah with my wife. Whilst a lot of  tour groups have multiple packages for Umrah, we decided to book the entire tour ourselves. We used Sky Scanner to book flights and booking.com for hotels (although we had an issue with the Madina hotel which got cancelled and we booked another over there. More of that soon on our blog.

The following is based on per person price breakdown, there was 2 of us.

Hotel

£189 – 4* Al-Hayat Plus (MED) 3 nights, 5* Jabal Omar Marriot (MAK) 3 nights

Flight

£448 – Royal Jordanian (in-direct)

Visa

£104 – Visit Saudi

Transport

£15 – Taxi, Madina airport to hotel (cheaper with Uber though)

£10 - Taxi, Madina hotel to train station (gift amount)

£35 – Haramain train

£15 – Taxi, Makkah to Jeddah

£2 – Taxi, Makkah station to Hotel (paid for us)

Total: £818

For the hotels, we didn't include food. We bought our own breakfast, lunch and dinner. These didn't cost so much. For breakfast, we were satisfied with yoghurt, banana, bread etc. For lunch and dinner we had mug shots, rice & curry, fried chicken/fish etc. We'd try not to have a heavy meal at night.

  2. I think one thing you have to factor in as a 'cost' is extra time in travelling and transit? This is a cost for anyone taking unpaid leave or self employed.
