As we were preparing for my little sister's wedding, I was wondering what to gift her. I decided on a unique gift, to write a wedding nasheed for her! I came across a non-music version of the opening theme music of Diriliş Ertuğrul and wanted to write the nasheed based on this tune. Not going to lie, it wasn't so easy. This is the second wedding nasheed I wrote, first one called Celebrations (which was sung by Labbayk).
I approached my friend Ehsaan Tahmid and asked him to sing it. I would have been satisfied with a WhatsApp voice note (well I thought I would) but Ehsaan decided to take it to the next level mashaAllah. What he done was an absolute masterpiece! He sung the words beautifully and brother Ilyas Mao of Canada done the background vocals with the amazing talent he has mashaAllah.
My sister is very beloved to me and my family. Being the youngest sibling, it was a difficult reality to overcome, her getting married and moving away from the house to live with someone else, starting a new journey in her life.
Due to covid-19, her wedding was cancelled, but Alhamdulillah we held a small family gathering, where the Nikah was done. It was at the Nikah that I shared the nasheed (the official video wasn't ready then, but I had made a quick home video). She was honestly in shock! Alhamdulillah it was well received.
I think on the Nikah day, I didn't realise that I sat on my mother's bed, just staring into space, a little upset at her eventual departure from the house. My mother knew what I was thinking SubhanAllah. She remarked ''you're thinking about your sister right?"
Every word on the nasheed has been written sincerely, not merely to jus rhyme. It was written from the heart, as an advice to the couple, a reminder of the blessings of marriage and making Du'a for them.
My wife was my sounding board, patiently listening to the drafts and helping me with a word or two here and there 😂🎈🎉
Ehsaan produced it well mashaAllah. I know how much of a struggle it was to get the crew together, but with a determined heart, the team done an amazing job to make the following video, with minimum resources and not much experience on acting too:
